Like many a walk-on player, Jake had his own dream: to attend the University of South Carolina in his father's footsteps. He grew up a big Gamecock fan, cheering wildly alongside his dad on fall Saturday's. Jake fell in love with the campus and spirit of Gamecock nation immediately upon the first of several visits. Just a month prior to Jake's tragic passing at the tender age of 16, he aced his first practice SAT exam as he prepared to accomplish his dream. A Gamecock flag still hangs proudly in Jake's bedroom.

While he will never have the opportunity to attend and earn a degree from the University of South Carolina, Jake will, through the establishment of the Jake Panus Walk-On Football Endowed Scholarship, forever inspire and motivate walk-on football players at the University of South Carolina to push themselves and their teammates toward greatness on and off the field.
Please join us as we embark to fully endow the Jake Panus Walk-On Football Endowed Scholarship.

South Carolina head coach Shane Beamer intimately understands the influence and impact a walk-on can have on a football team. "I was a walk-on. Those guys are partial to me", Beamer said.

Jake Panus Walk-On Football Endowed Scholarship

The Jake Panus Walk-on Football Endowed Scholarship was recently established to provide a walk-on football player who, through hard work and perseverance, earns an athletic scholarship and contributes toward the success of the Gamecock football team, the University and the community at large. The student-athlete will share Jake's leadership attributes while demonstrating a motivated work ethic, fierce determination, team-first mentality, and grit on the football field.
