The Julie Moody Mise Carolina Band Endowed Scholarship fund was established by her adoring husband, Bryan, and sweet daughter, Hayden, to honor and memorialize her life as a beautiful and precious wife and mother. She is also remembered for her lifelong love of music, the Carolina Band and Gamecock sports.
As a daughter of the late Gus Moody, formerly the Band Director at Summerville High School, Julie learned to appreciate and love music from an early age. She played the clarinet in her dad's band and in the Carolina Marching and Symphonic Bands. She also was a member and eventually the captain of the Carolina Color Guard.
After pursuing a degree in Elementary Education and a master’s degree in Library Science at USC, Julie served many students in both the classroom and various libraries in Dorchester School District II and Lexington V School District before her retirement. She made reading a pleasure for so many students and was known to spontaneously break out in song. Her kindness was infectious.
It is our hope that this scholarship will provide needed financial support each semester for a deserving student from South Carolina who is an active member of the Carolina Band.
