Over 20% of USC students identify as first-generation, meaning neither of their parents has earned a four-year degree. This population is growing and will likely continue to do so due to the university’s commitment to access and inclusivity. First-generation students face unique challenges in navigating the college landscape and overcoming barriers in higher education, which can impact their academic success and retention rates.
